How could Pim Fortuyn claim that Islam was ‘backwards’ for policies towards women and homosexuals yet remain a devout roman catholic? I don’t get religion, I really, really don’t. I understand why people might want or need religion - the need for ritual and a sense of belonging always seemed pretty key to human existence to me.
What I don’t get is why anyone allows the crap that the world’s most common religions seem to spew constantly. (yes, I’m aware this is a naïve-sounding question.
Maybe consider it rhetorical).
