Today, while trying to figure out how to best chop up some pieces for a site that has all sorts of odd-angled corners and whatnots, I had an epiphany: why not create negative space backgrounds?
Rather than one large image, with the appriate cut-outs, why not just use the cut-outs as the background image?
For this site, it’s had an added bonus that the cut-out shapes are pretty much all the same, just in different places.
So I’ve saved huge by being able to re-use 2 images, which are about 0.8K in size, being nothing but white & grey gifs in, so far, 20 places, rather than, say, 10 large images.
A minor little thing, but fun all the same!
