One of the contemporary events that drives me absolutely ape-shit is the advent of the auto-dialler.
Why?
Because it’s shitty enough to be put on hold when I call you.
To put me on hold to talk to someone when you’ve called me is just unconscionable.
It’s shittier still when you wake me up to do that.
